Introduction to MVAA Basketball

Mountain View Parents, Coaches and Athletes,

As the new season begins to roll out, I wanted to reach out to our MVAA family and give you all an opportunity to get to know me and, provide you with some certainty and hope with regards to our program and its future. I have been a participant and coach for MVAA for almost 7 years now. I have three boys from the ages of 6-11. We are members of Hamilton Mill UMC and my wife Lily and I really believe in community outreach and giving back to others. My focus is the development of our youth through sport in an effort to build great adults to prosper in our community. I also drive to provide a safe and harmonious culture through the love of basketball. Our goal is to help those who want to excel in the sport by offering several tools that are made available to them if an athlete chooses to accelerate their skills in our cluster.

  1. Schedule: You will receive the entire schedule for the season in the first week of November when practices begin. For the month of November you will have 2 practices a week. After that, we will have 1 game and one practice per week.
  2. Teams:We will be competing against our own teams through the season. Some division where we have less teams, will have interleague play. Expect 10 regular season games and 2 tournament games.
  3. Locations: Each division will practice and play at their corresponding schools: 5-8 at Freeman's Mill or Dyer, 9-14 at Twin Rivers, and 15-18 at Mountain View High School. The Twin Rivers kids may have some functions at the high school and vice versa with 15-18, but the concentration of the schedule will be built using these practices
  4. Uniforms: Our uniform vendor has been selected and our Treasurer, Executive Director and Uniform Administrator will be able to deliver on all our uniforms in a timely manner. This year will be the same as last year. We will be selling Shooter Shirts for $10 per shirt.

We have created a board that will be involved in the continuous progress of the program. We meet to discuss key program ideals, finances and attempt to put forth plans and processes the will benefit each and every participant. I feel we have a very strong board with lots to offer and today I would like to introduce them to you:

David Figueroa: Executive Director

Caly Bridges: Treasurer, Uniform Director

Lionel : Referee Director

Bob Wolk: Scheduling Director

Mike Rolley: Draft and coaches Director

David Ankrom: Uniform Administrator

Sarah Ankrom: Secretary

Folks, I look forward to engaging with each and every one of you. Please feel free to reach out to me with your comments, suggestions, or concerns. I am committed to making our program thrive and without you, the community, we would have nothing to strive for! This if going to be a great season and I hope to see you all soon!

Go Bears!!

Thank You,

David Figueroa
